Power Rankings - Spring Season - Week Three

2017 SPRING SEASON POWER RANKINGS

1	Emaan	2-0-2		Emaan played two games last week and came out with a win and a tie, vaulting themselves into first place.  They have the leagues best offense (goals scored) and have played well defensively particularly with Yusuf Kapoor bailing them out of breakdowns in their own zone.  They are in a strong position for a top finish if they can maintain consistency although they need to watch out for the penalties as they have been taking a few too many this season.
2	Taqwa	1-0-0		Taqwa has only played one game and it certainly didn't start off well as Sabr was all over them for most of it, but Taqwa demonstrated some veteran guile as they soaked up the pressure and turned it into a solid comeback win with three goals in the final two minutes.
3	Haya	0-0-2		Haya starts games off well - they just cannot finish them.  Two games where they held a lead and both ended as a tie - last week was painful surrendering a goal with just 3.5 seconds left.  They get a tough match-up with 1st Place Emaan but this team has good balance and strong goaltending so if they can figure out how to hold a lead they are in good shape.
4	Sabr	1-2-1		Last week was a brutal one for Sabr, two games played and both lost.  The doubleheader was not expected to be easy but Sabr seemed to burn out in their game one loss and were flat in game two.  Their first game had them dominating play and leading with two minutes left before the wheels fell off with Tawqa scoring three goals to take the game.  Right after that loss they faced Emaan who built a two goal lead before a late PP marker made it a 2-1 game but that's how it ended.  With four games played Sabr has only given up six goals which is a great defensive output, their offense however has been poor - take away their 6-0 win and Sabr is averaging a goal a game which needs to change.
5	Yaqeen	0-1-1		Yaqeen opened the season with a major defeat and struggled at times last week but a gritty effort saw them salvage a tie against Haya.  When their full team is present this team is a threat but their defense is still a bit thin so any key player missing and things may get ugly on the backend.  Their high flying forwards get a chance to break out against struggling Ihsan.
6	Ihsan	0-1-2		How the mighty have fallen, last season Ihsan dominated with a solid defensive approach and took the championship.  This season has not gone as well, they drop to the bottom of the Power Rankings in part because of their poor performance and in part because we all want to give Yousuf Soliman the opportunity to sing "Started from the bottom."  Ihsan gets Yaqeen in Week Four and a win will give them a good boost in the standings.

Power Rankings - Spring Season - Week Two

1	Sabr	1-0-1		Sabr played well in the second half of their Week One game and that carried over to Week Two where they routed the defending champs Ihsan by a 6-0 score.  Yasir Malik did all the damage with a hat-trick.  Their defense and goal-tending looked solid and their forwards were in flight.  They get a test in Week Three with a double-header, the first game against Taqwa making their season debut and the second against Emaan in an early season battle for first place.
2	Emaan	1-0-1		Emaan started their game against Yaqeen strong and never looked back scoring in the first minute of the game and continuing to find the back of the net as they were leading 6-0 at one point.  Waqar Khan was the catalyst with five points and the top line combined for 10 points.  Emaan faces a double header in Week Three as they face rivals Ihsan who are coming off a blowout loss, sit for an hour and then play Sabr in a battle for first place.
3	Haya	0-0-1		Haya was off in Week Two so they drop to third in this list.  They return in Week Three against Yaqeen who will be looking to show more than what they did in their Week Two blowout loss.
4	Ihsan	0-1-1		Ihsan was missing players in Week One and bravely fought for a tie, Week Two they were again missing players and this time were routed by Sabr.  The defensive zone coverage that has become Ihsan's calling card was nowhere to be seen as Sabr was moving freely and getting open shots while breakdowns led to breakaways.  Ihsan gets a chance to bounce back with a game against rivals Emaan whom they have not lost to in the past three meetings.
5	Yaqeen	0-1-0		Saying that their season debut was poor is an understatement.  Down 5-0 at halftime the game was run clock for the second half which was for the best as Yaqeen had players arrive late and never really got anything positive going as Emaan was in flight from the start.
6	Taqwa	0-0-0		Taqwa did not play in Week One or Two

1	Ihsan	0-0-1		The defending champs came into Week One missing their best defenseman in Farrukh Khan and last seasons Playoff MVP but put up a defensive wall against Emaan and showed that they are once again a top contender this season
2	Haya	0-0-1		Haya played a good game despite missing two key players and showed solid offensive play while their goaltending was strong.
3	Sabr	0-0-1		Sabr looked disorganized in the first half but dominated play in the second half which is a good sign for them this season, Ahmad Mobin was solid in net for his team in the first half while they were figuring things out
4	Emaan	0-0-1		Emaan didn't play poorly but their offense seemed to lack pace and creativity so more will be needed if they want to compete this season
5	Taqwa	0-0-0		Taqwa did not play in Week One
6	Yaqeen	0-0-0		Yaqeen did not play in Week One

Power Rankings - Fall Season - Week 9

1	Ihsan	5-1-1		The upward surge and winning optimism continues for the white shirts. This squad has been hotter a ghost pepper and have dazed the opposition with their vast amount of depth. We get it, you guys are just rocking!
2	Emaan	5-2-0		Emaan is riding a two game win streak and get to relish a bye week. The dynamic duo of Waqar Khan and Zaid Toorawa lead the league in points while goaltender Ahmad Mobin has been stellar in net, allowing only 1 goal in his last 2 games.
3	Yaqeen	3-2-1		Yaqeen have been winless in 3 and are in threat of descending down the standings. Goaltender Yusuf Kapoor is holding his own with the best GA in the league but needs his team to step it up on a consistent basis.
4	Haya	3-2-1		After winning two straight, the grey shirts suffered from a dismal turnout and experienced their 2nd loss of the season. Hopefully a full roster will get this team going tonight.
5	Shukr	3-5-0		Time is running out for the blue shirts. Shukr has lost two consecutive and have Ikhlas and Sabr breathing up their shirts in the standings. A big win is essential for Shukr to stay alive in the playoff race.
6	Ikhlas	0-4-3		Zayd Agjee was the cortisone shot that Ikhlas needed. The squad has finally exited the cellar of the standings but still need to build off there newly discovered momentum versus Yaqeen.
7	Sabr	1-4-2		Oh the agony of not winning a game. Sabr gets another crack at it this week versus Ihsan. Sabr has their work cut out and need to discover a way to generate a victory before time slips away.

Power Rankings - Fall Season - Week Eight

1	Ihsan	4-1-1		Ihsan experienced their first loss last week and probably won't allow a small dent to disturb their ride to clinching first place. The Soliman's continue to lead the offensive cohort while Farrukh Khan and Sajid Khan rule the roost in the back end. Let's not forget goaltender Zaid Majoo, he's been tough as nails while tending the pipes.
2	Emaan	4-2-0		Emaan steamrolled past Shukr last week and have every reason to flex their guns. Waqar Khan, Zaid Toorawa and Furqan Salaam have been consistently pocketing points while netminder Ahmad Mobin has been as putting on a clinic each week.
3	Yaqeen	3-1-1		Yaqeen comes off a bye week and has their work cut out with Ihsan tongiht. Sajjid Ayubi, Humza Chaudhry and Arsalan Mian have been the big threats upfront. Yusuf Kapoor was to the wolves lasst game but proves again that he's the guy heading this team in the correct direction.
4	Haya	3-1-1		Haya's legitimacy as being a contender will be on display tonight as they face Emaan. Haya's been blessed with the offensive legs of Aazar Zafar, Hisham Ali and Nadeem Faqiri while Huzaifa Majanra and Naeem Akhtar sooth the defensive needs. Playing like he's in his 20's, goaltender Khalid Mufti continues to shine each game.
5	Shukr	3-4-0		After winning two consecutive games, Shukr hit a roadblock and got served a nasty egg of a loss last week. Arssal Shahabuddin, Arif Bijabhai and Idrees Deen need to help this team realign their path up the standings before it's too late. Shukr's d-men have been solid but need to reiterate team defense while easing the goaltending burden on Kaunain Saiyed.
6	Sabr	0-4-3		Sabr enjoys a bye week this time around and still are salivating for their first win. Not sure if it's the bounces but Sabr is hurting as an entity. They have three games to get their act together or else it'll be too late. Will goaltender Imran Merchant and company be able to fist that last playoff spot?
7	Ikhlas	0-4-2		Ikhlas is another squad that's been licking their chops for a win. The offence on this team just isn't clicking while the backend has been applause worth (at times). Will their recent acquisition of Zayd Agjee be able to squeeze this tribe into the post season?

Power Rankings Spring Season - Week Eleven

1	Emaan	7-2-1		Emaan went into their final game wanting to send a message to a potential first round opponent and that they did by putting up seven goals on Ikhlas.  They also made sure to keep their top line out there to lock up the top three spots on the scoring leaders table which they did and a league first. Emaan ends in first place after a dominating season and boast the leagues best offense.
2	Haya	6-4-0		A second win over Sabr in two weeks seems to have erased the bitter memories of their four-game losing streak but they caught a broken Sabr so hard to judge if this team is really back on track.  Their captain Waqar Khan has returned and seemed to spark them. Haya ends in second but a bumpy road to get there.
3	Shukr	6-4-0		Shukr redeemed themselves after a loss to Ihsan the week before with a commanding 4-1 win where a late goal broke the shutout.  Coach K may be lost to injury but he was behind the bench and controlling his team to a dominant win over a surging Ihsan. Shukr ends up in third despite all of the injury woes the team faced.
4	Ikhlas	3-5-2		A loss to Ikhlas didn't impact them in the standings but was a potential playoff preview if Ikhlas can win their wildcard game against Ikhlas.  The team was strong in the second half of the season led by their young guns. Ikhlas finishes the season in fourth place, a great place to be considering the terrible start to the season.
5	Ihsan	2-4-4		Ihsan took a thumping loss to Shukr in their season finale but with the final playoff spot already locked up no damage done.  Ahmad Hathout has been good on his word as the Dark Knight led his team to the postseason. Ihsan ends up in fifth despite inconsistency this season but did just enough to grab the last playoff spot.
6	Sabr	1-6-3		Their season finale was only for pride having been eliminated last week and the last game was a testament to perseverance as they faced Haya with no subs, the five that did show up put up a solid fight in a losing effort. Sabr finishes the season out of the playoff picture, a talented squad that faced issues with injury and absences that they could not overcome.

Power Rankings Spring Season - Week Ten

1	Emaan	6-2-1		Emaan has already clinched first to the loss last week to Ikhlas doesn't do much to impact where they finish.  They finish the season with another game against Ikhlas which will be more tuning than anything and likely an effort to lock up the top three spots in the scoring leaders table.
2	Haya	5-4-0		A win last week over Sabr broke their four game losing streak and gave them some confidence after a tough slide of late.  The surprise return of Captain Waqar Khan was certainly a boost.  Haya finishes the season against Sabr and will want to iron out any bad habits before the playoffs.
3	Shukr	5-4-0		Shukr took a surprise loss to Ihsan last week but considering that they were missing a number of players and before the game learned that Kashif Taqiuddin was lost for the season a letdown makes sense.  A rematch with Ihsan closes out the season and Shukr will want to end the season healthy more than anything.
4	Ikhlas	3-4-2		A win against first place Emaan was impressive as Ikhlas used their speed and veteran guile to take down the league leaders.  Some thought Emaan let this one get away so the rematch this week will be a good test for Ikhlas and their playoff prospects.
5	Ihsan	2-3-4		Ihsan continued their strong play of late with a gritty 1-0 win over second place Shukr.  The goaltending of Zaid Majoo has been the difference of late as he picks up another shutout for Ihsan.
6	Sabr	1-5-3		Going into their game against Haya, Sabr knew that they had to win to keep their playoff hopes alive but a short bench more than anything was too much to overcome.  Sabr lost players to injuries and had key players miss games which is why they will not be advancing to the post-season.
